The 7th BK-UNDP Workshop on Green Banking
 
The 7th workshop on Green Banking was opened on June 7, 2014 in Bank Keshavarzi Training Center in Babolsar, Iran.
 

 
The 5-day workshop, organized by International Cooperation Department, will be held on June 7-11, 2014 in Babolsar as one of the activities planned for the first stage of Green Banking for Inclusive Growth and Sustainable development Project, aimed at discussing issues such as UN approaches to implement projects in Iran; concepts of inclusive growth and sustainable development; review of BK credit instructions, policies and circulars; credit priorities; and economic, financial and technical assessment of projects.
The first day of the workshop was opened by Dr. Mohammad Talebi, Bank Keshavarzi Chairman and Managing Director, talking to participants through remote video conference. In his video speech, Dr. Talebi elaborated on issues such as smart utilization of basic resources, green technologies, the new approaches to deal with scarce resources and considering the management of such scarcity as an opportunity not a challenge. He then referred to virtualization, replacement and optimization as three essential approaches to deal with challenges. Expressing his satisfaction over the implementation of the project within the first stage of the project, Dr. Talebi highlighted the project impacts and called it a success.
Balasubramaniam Murali, Deputy Resident Representative of UNDP in Iran, Dr. Shahverdi, Executive Director of Credit and Investment and Dr. Ali Farzin, the Head of Inclusive Growth and Sustainable Development Cluster of UNDP, attended the event as the keynote speakers of the workshop for the first day. 
Dr. Javaherian, General Director of Sustainable Development and Green Economy in Environment Organization, was the guest speaker of the second day, highlighting issues such as the concepts of green economy, bio capacity, ecological trace, virtual water, and environmental challenges in Iran. In her final remarks, Dr. Javaherian underlined the close cooperation between the Environment Organization and Bank Keshavarzi in implementation of the project.  
Within the five days of the workshop, Nik Khah, Executive Director of BK Branches in Zandjan Province; Dadzari, Executive Director of BK Branches in North Khorasan Province; Mirzaei, Manager of Credit Department; Nematinan, Manager of Research and Development Department, and Experts from Bank Keshavarzi and associated organization will discuss issues including Strategic Insight and H-W Questions in Project Planning, Result-based Management, Strategic Approaches, and Project Selection Techniques. The participants, organized in two working teams, will then review the credit instructions and policies of the bank to comply them with concepts of sustainable development and inclusive growth.
BY the end of each day, the results and findings of team works and speeches will be summed up by Farzin Motamed, the acting national project director of Green Banking Project.
