MISSION
to foster the economic development and social progress of member countries and Muslim communities individually as well as jointly in accordance with the principles of Shari'ah i.e., Islamic Law.
ACTIVITIES
-         to participate in equity capital and grant loans for productive projects and enterprises besides providing financial assistance to member countries in other forms for economic and social development.
-         to establish and operate special funds for specific purposes including a fund for assistance to Muslim communities in non-member countries, in addition to setting up trust funds.
-         to accept deposits and to mobilize financial resources through Shari'ah compatible modes. It is also charged with the responsibility of assisting in the promotion of foreign trade especially in capital goods, among member countries; providing technical assistance to member countries; and extending training facilities for personnel engaged in development activities in Muslim countries to conform to the Shari'ah.

-         Extending loans to member countries for the financing of infrastructural and agricultural projects such as roads, canals, dams, schools, hospitals, housing, rural development, etc. both in the public and private sectors,
-         Conducting Technical Cooperation Program (TCP) among IDB member countries,
-          Enhancing the skills of technicians, professionals and officials in the mid-level management through 
            providing on-the-job training possibilities in order to enhance their performance and increase their technical and
            professional capacities.

To complement the role played by the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) through:
-         Providing Islamic financial services & products
-         Promoting competition and entrepreneurship in member countries
-         Advising governments & businesses
-         Encouraging cross country investments.
 
ACTIVITIES
To identify opportunities in the private sector that could function as engines of growth and providing them with a wide range of productive financial products and services. Furthermore, ICD has the mandate of mobilizing additional resources for projects and encouraging the development of Islamic financing and capital markets.
